Yorkshire West Indian Culturama Popup Carnival
Yorkshire West Indian Culturama Carnival Network is pleased to announce the first cultural project for 2018, ‘Unity Popup Culturama Carnival’, which will take place on Saturday 8th September, 1pm – 8pm @ Old Bridge, Market Street, Holmfirth, HD9 7DA..
The much-awaited popup carnival will take place in two locations in Huddersfield, yet to be confirmed. The idea behind the project is to build stronger communities and promote community cohesion, while helping people to achieve everyday goals, through motivation and self-belief.
Leading up to the project there will be a month-long period of workshop events in which people can learn how to bring their cultural ideas to life through planning and design. The workshops, for young and old, will teach people practical skills through the use of tactile materials and colours. Those taking part will be able to make cultural clothing, costumes and learn dance.
Each workshop will be free of charge and everyone taking part will have the opportunity to join the Popup Culturama Carnival and share their design or routine with the community.
The Popup Culturama Carnival management committee will be the only provider of catering on popup carnival day; however, if you have a stall selling flags, arts and crafts or clothing, there will be opportunities for two stalls, so please get in touch.
